This stone is hard and extremely fine, which can easily work razors. Although hard, Nakayama Mizu Asagi has a better than average response compared to other stones of this grain. Nakayama (中山)
This Eastern mine is famous for the awasedo stones for finishing the sharpening process. Multi-layer stone (Hondomae Shikitomae) with a different color "colleague" is especially valued by carpenters and sharpeners. Compared to stones of similar hardness and fineness from other mines, Nakayama products are known for a more pleasant sharpening sensation. Authentic Nakayama stones often come with the famous Maruka ㋕正本山 stamp.
