Powder steel m398 is one of the best at holding sharpness (especially initial sharpness) among stainless steels.Since the steel is forged here, this further improves its properties. This knife is not only a great tool, but also a real work of art with a piece of a mammoth that has been lying in the permafrost for millions of years!

Böhler-Uddeholm has introduced M398 steel in 2019, developed as an evolution and improvement of the well-known Böhler-Uddeholm M390 steel. In terms of pure wear resistance, it is certainly an improvement. M398 has much more carbon, 0.70% more of it and 3.2% more vanadium - 7.20%. Obviously this is not a steel that is easy for knife makers to work with, so it is hard to find in series production.
