Nakayama Hondomae were mined in Umegahata Prefecture. This stone was dug by Mr. Honda 300 years ago. The Hondomae layer was completely depleted 100 years ago, followed by many others. in 1971 the company Hatanaka Toishi bought the rights to mine the Nakayama mine and began operating it. If the shaft goes to the sides, you can go there almost forever, but if it leads to the top, sooner or later you have to stop because of the threat of collapse. Therefore, the Nakayama Kato-san mine had to be closed in 1967. A good stone to add to the collection, since they are almost gone from the market.

In other parts of this mountain, good quality sharpening stones are also found today, but they are significantly inferior in quality to the vintage ones.

A medium hardness Nakayama Homdomae Japanese sharpening stone that is easy to work with. It's fine enough to finish a razor properly, but easy enough to use that it's also good for knives. It is possible to do without a back or a diamond plate, because the stone will release enough of its own suspension and the waste of the polished metal will soon be visible. Due to its size, it is perfect for sharpening razors, especially if you like a gentle and safe shave. It can also be used as a suspension donor on hard rock.
