A soft Nakayama Iromono whetstone that is easy to work with. It's good enough to finish off a razor, but easy enough to use that it's also good for knives. It is possible to do without a back or a diamond plate, because the stone will release its suspension very abundantly and the waste of the polished metal will soon be visible. Due to its size, it is perfect for sharpening razors, especially if you like a gentle and safe shave. It can also be used as a suspension donor on hard rock.
Nakayama (中山)
This Eastern mine is famous for its awasedo finishing stones, and is perhaps the most sought after among sharpening professionals and hobbyists. Compared to stones of similar hardness and fineness from other mines, Nakayama stones are known for a more pleasant sharpening sensation and high work speed. Multilayer stone (Hondomae, Shikitomae) and Kiita are especially valued.
