This beautiful Nakayama iromono is a hard and perfect Japanese natural stone for finishing any tool sharpening. It is best for those with more experience, but can be paired with a nagura for a more user-friendly experience. The texture is very fine (10k+) and the polish tends to mirror.
The stone is mined in the Kato mine, which is famous for its Maruka stones.
Nakayama (中山)
This eastern mine is famous for its sharpening finishing stones and is perhaps the most sought-after sharpening site for professionals and amateurs. Compared to stones of similar hardness and fineness from other mines, Nakayama stones are known for their more pleasant sharpening sensation and high working speed. Multi-layer stone (Hondomae, Shikitomae) and Kiita are particularly valued.
