When shaving with a folding razor, the blade will become unsharp after a while. You can then sharpen the razor with the following leather bands. A linen belt (not available here) is used to sharpen the blades when they are more loose or after sharpening on a stone to remove metal debris from the razor that may get stuck in the skin.

Hang one side of the strap and tension the other by hand.

The belts are made up of two layers of leather: a top layer of working horsehide cordovan and a bottom layer of cheaper leather.
