Authentic Nishhoyama Suite a type of natural stone from Japan - prized for its clean workmanship, speed and ability to create a highly aesthetic kasumi finish. This stone has a typical suita structure with fine traces of „su“ (air pockets), which provide excellent abrasive balance.

Key features:

  • Type: Suite (awasedo / finishing - prefinishing class)
  • Origin: Nishhoyama, Japan
  • Hardness: Medium
  • Speed: fast, easy suspension generation
  • Finish: clean kasumi, very good contrast between hagane and jigane

Character of the work:

  • Stone works soft and even, gives very good control
  • Excellent „hanging“ of steel without scratching the surface
  • Suitable for use with both water and naphtha - allows adjustment of aggressiveness

Lines:

Stone has natural lines, but they are safe lines - does not affect the blade and does not interfere with work. This is just an aesthetic/geological feature inherent in natural stones.

Usage:

  • Prefinishing against harder finishing stones (e.g. Nakayama, Ozuku)
  • Kasumi finish for Japanese knives
  • Straight razor progression (after medium grain stones)

Suitability for steels:

  • Carbon steels (Shirogami, Aogami) - excellent result
  • Stainless steel - good work
  • HSS - works but effectiveness depends on pressure and suspension

Exclusivity:

  • Typical „live“ feeling of the suite during work
  • Very nice, natural surface pattern
  • A versatile stone for both professionals and advanced enthusiasts
