This is Shohonyama Shobudani Tomae from Kyoto. Suitable for finishing knives and tools. This Tomae is extracted from a soft layer, allowing for quick, smooth blade sharpening. Strong abrasive power, fine and rich suspension is easily released.
Shobu (菖蒲谷, Shobudani, Shoubu)
Eastern mine, well regarded for its suit. Although this mine may not be as highly regarded as Ohira or Nakayama in the West, the stones from this mine are generally of very high quality. Shoubu suita wholesale prices are among the fastest rising of all Japanese whetstones.
