This stone is easy to use and is ideal for finishing razors, polishing and sharpening kitchen knives. It is fast and will leave a contrasting kasumi line. Its large surface area makes it ideal for sharpening and polishing.
This stone is light grey with lots of karassic flecks and thin, secure 'gold' lines. There are also a few namazu spots.
Shobu (菖蒲谷, Shobudani, Shoubu)
Eastern mine, well regarded for the quality of its sharpening stones. Although this mine may not be as highly regarded as Ohira or Nakayama in the West, the stones from this mine are generally of very high quality. Wholesale prices for Shoubu are among the fastest rising of all stones.
