These stones are considered among the best in the world for sharpening razors, knives, chisels, and other tools. Henk Bos\u2019s booklet *Grinding and Honing Part 4. The garnets are very fine (typically 10\u201313 microns), and they penetrate the steel by only about 3 microns. Quick-drying with a soapy texture. Rare. Polishes beautifully and is suitable for sensitive skin. Darkens over time when exposed to sunlight.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Big Yellow One <\/strong>Yellowish, slower but very consistent. Ideal for a perfect, smooth edge. When used with water, it creates a \u201emagnetic\u201c sensation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Blue Trainer <\/strong>and <strong>Upper Layer <\/strong>Often crossed with Belgian Blue (BBW). Moderate speed, various color markings (red and orange stripes). Very reliable for everyday use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>La Veinette <\/strong>One of the best shaving creams. Very smooth, quick, and fine. A creamy texture that's easy to use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>La Petite Blanche <\/strong> A fast-acting, milky-white suspension that is thicker than Dressante.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Les Latneuses <\/strong>Soft, with a hybrid layer (chlorite + quartz). The hybrid surface is ideal for very fine polishing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>La Nouvelle Veine <\/strong>, <strong>La Grise <\/strong>, <strong>La Verte<\/strong> Thicker layers, suitable for wider knives.
