What makes this Kamisori special is that the steel here is genuine Tamahagane. Tamahagane is a traditional steel made in Japan for centuries from the \"iron\" sand and coal found there. Since Japan does not have large iron ore resources, the steel is made from iron sand in a process that takes several days by hand. This was the main source of material for all samurai swords. The steel layer is brittle and hard (hardened to 70HRC), while the softer frame provides the necessary flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both layers are not rust-proof, so always keep the razor dry after shaving and protect it with a thin layer of lubricant. Why is this razor rust-free? Stainless steel razors come in an alloy that will prevent corrosion stains but also make it less hard and less sharp. High carbon steel, like the cutting layer of this Kamisori, allows for a much higher hardness and will maintain a smooth shave for much longer before needing to be sharpened again, especially this Tamahagane layer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tamahagane \u7389\u92fc steel, a legendary and revered material in traditional Japanese sword making, holds a special place in the hearts of artisans and enthusiasts alike.
