These natural grinding stones, mined in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, have been used for centuries as part of the polishing process for traditional Japanese samurai swords. In recent years, they have become popular and are used to polish and sharpen many other sharp tools. Their speed and uniform particle size make them very effective for kitchen knives. The ability to create a sharp edge with an excellent balance of sharpness and perfection, as well as to polish the surface in a detailed and even way. They are ideal for sharpening after scratching medium grit synthetic grinding stones. Can be useful as a pre-polisher against very fine natural stones and can work well for both laminated and mono steel knife finishes.

The Mikawa Botan Nagura stone easily removes scratches from coarser grains. Smooth sharpening sensation that does not "take" the blade and a detailed chamon line and bright frost on steel with shallow fine scratches. The perfectly serrated blade is suitable for any kitchen knife.
