Shohonyama Ohira Red Japanese natural stone for sharpening

This is Shohonyama Red Ohira Ipponsen from Kyoto. For finishing knives and carpentry tools. The Red Ohira is one of the best and most valuable in this mine. This Red Ohira, a beautiful pink gradation, shows a striking face. Soft, the abrasive power is quite good. Sharpening process is very smooth, fine suspension is released quite quickly, easy to sharpen. Surface smooth without any „toxic” lines or inclusions.

Note that Japanese natural sharpening stones may not appeal to novice sharpeners, as they are more difficult to use and work slower than artificial ones. These are natural stones so each one is different so my measurements are not exact. It's a lifetime investment for people who sharpen their knives and tools.
