This beautiful Nakayama iromono is a hard and perfect Japanese natural stone for finishing any tool sharpening. It is best for those with more experience, but can be paired with a nagura for a more user-friendly experience. The texture is very fine (10k+) and the polish tends to mirror. The lines on the edges will not be felt even if too much pressure is applied, and will not cause scratches.
Nakayama (中山)
This Eastern mine is famous for its awasedo finishing stones, and is perhaps the most sought after among sharpening professionals and hobbyists. Compared to stones of similar hardness and fineness from other mines, Nakayama stones are known for a more pleasant sharpening sensation and high work speed. Multilayer stone (Hondomae, Shikitomae) and Kiita are especially valued.
