Medium hardness Ohira Iromono Tomae are easy to use and leave a matte finish. They do a great job of turning synthetic scratches into kasumi. This Japanese sharpening stone is very homogeneous and fast enough to work well with knives. It will leave a very clean core steel and a very faint and consistent scratch in the softer iron coating. You can easily transition from this stone to finishing stones when polishing. This stone is also suitable for sharpening carpentry tools and razors, but is not the best choice for finishing these tools.
This stone has a beautiful combination of red, yellow and green, decorated with fine Nashiji dots. A couple of shallow but suspicious lines are visible on the die. It is probably best to avoid them. "American" dimensions and regular shape.
