A suite of this size, ideal shape and class does not come along very often, and a vintage one with markings is a real find. The stone is fast, gives good response and exceptional results. High-quality Ohira is increasingly rare, and this stone is an excellent example of how the mine achieved its high reputation. This specimen is quite finely structured. Pink base with a small pattern on the dress. One of the corners is slightly slanted and there are some safe lines. This is the only thing that prevents this stone from becoming a museum specimen with a truly astronomical price.

Ohira (大平, Oohira, Ohirayama)
Western mine, famous for the quality of Uchigumori and Suita. Although the mine is still occasionally worked, exportable uchigumori and Ohira suita are increasingly difficult to find. Because of the superior quality of Ohira suita and uchigumori, it is not uncommon for stones from other mines to be stamped and sold as Ohira.
