This stone is hard and fine but has excellent sharpening feel and speed. It will not form a slurry, so we recommend using nagura to speed up the polishing of the knives. Conversely, black metal waste will quickly build up when you work the blade on the stone. With the appropriate patience and technique, the stones leave a shiny, refined kasumi on both the soft laminate and the hard core steel.
The blade is quite non-aggressive, but it is perfect for kitchen knives. This stone also works well with carpentry tools, e.g. for chisels and planes and is an excellent pre-finishing razor prep. For razors, tools and polishing, we do not recommend not using a diamond plate, as I have noticed that the suspension is uneven and not as fine as I would like.
A small stone will do the job perfectly and is significantly cheaper than a full size of similar quality. Currently, the stone is yellow and white. Deeper on the sides there is little visible SU (holes) and no toxic lines. There is also a rare renge and namazu pattern.
Okudo (奥殿)
Eastern mine, famous for its suite. These stones are often referred to as the "King of Suits" and are perhaps the most sought after among their "colleagues". They are usually very hard, quite small and fast. Authentic Okudo stones are usually very expensive and rarely available.
